We all meet at our beautiful basecamp right at the Kicking Horse river just 25km east of Golden, BC. In the upper and middle canyons, the rafting starts out slowly, then picks up until you’re getting drenched in continuous class III to IV rapids .You won’t forget rafting Portage, Shotgun, Last Waltz and all the other amazing rafting along the way. It’s the best rafting trip in BC for the outdoor adventurer.

Kootenay River Runners Basecamp
2966 Kicking Horse Rd
Distance: 24km. Allow 35 mins each way.
- Follow signs that lead you through Golden to Hwy #1.
- Turn right on Hwy #1 (towards Lake Louise).
- Turn right immediately after our signs onto Beaverfoot Road
- Follow Beaverfoot Road across the train tracks, cross the river.
- Take first right onto Kicking Horse Road. Drive 1 km to the Kootenay River Runners Kicking Horse Base Camp on your right.
- Please note there is construction in the area, check drivebc.ca and plan accordingly
Kootenay River Runners go to great efforts to ensure a safe trip! However, due to the nature of the sport neither company, owner or personnel shall be held responsible for any damages, injuries, losses, delays or expenses occurred whilst on excursion whether this be to person or property.
Please arrive no later than 20 minutes before your trip! All excursions require a Release of Liability waiver to be signed before departure, it is available to view online prior to booking. All participants under 15 years must have a Release of Liability form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Any participant under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed on the trip with no refund.
Minimum age for the Kicking Horse river is 12 years.
Minimum numbers are required for all trips.
Swim suit and towel, sunscreen, necessary medication and warm clothing to change into afterwards. For cool or rainy days a fleece jacket to wear under our splash jackets may increase your comfort. We also recommend you to bring water bottles and snacks packed in your vehicle to enjoy after your trip. Do not bring jewellery and other valuables.
All tours are subject to a 48 hour cancellation policy unless otherwise indicated on your booking confirmation. Guests are able to cancel bookings outside of 48 hours and receive a full refund. Subject to availability, guests are also able to change / reschedule bookings outside of 48 hours.
No changes / reschedules will be permitted within 48 hours of tour time. No refunds will be provided within 48 hours of tour time. Trips cannot be delayed for late arrivals. Refunds or rescheduling will not be provided for missed trips.
Group bookings of 10 or more are subject to a 7 day cancellation policy. No changes, reschedules or refunds will be provided within 7 days of tour time.
In the unlikely event that Kootenay River Runners must cancel a trip an alternate trip or full refund will be given, as preferred by the guest. Kootenay River Runners reserves the right to cancel trips due to safety and other concerns at our discretion.
