Spring is in the Air!

The sun is shining, there’s pollen in the air… people are sunbathing and sneezing all at once. Although this hot weather may be unusual for May it can still only mean one thing; spring is upon us. It’s time to store that bulky winter gear away and bring out the flip flops, campfire tunes, hiking gear and of course get on the water. We here at KRR have been looking forward to this time of the year since fall last year.. and finally it is here! The rivers in the Kootenays are flowing and we can’t wait to get our rafts and guests on them.
May has brought with it some beautiful days so far, perfect for getting us ready for what the summertime will offer. Now, don’t get me wrong… I’m not saying pack away that rain jacket just yet, it is still May. I’m just saying I hope you are all as pumped for this summer season as we are. Our office is stacked with boxes full of gear for this upcoming season.. as is Ian’s garage. There’s new wetsuits, paddles and PFDs (life vests) in these boxes just to name a few things.
All this week Ian has been out on the water getting our guides trained up… and coming back sunburnt (don’t take a note from Ian’s book and DO always remember sunscreen)! This year we have both returning guides and guides that are new to the Koots. Our returning staff are the ones that couldn’t get enough of what these rivers have to offer; the new staff will no doubt be back next year. So far we have our guides all trained up on our Toby Creek and Kicking Horse locations with Kootenay River training to take place next week… all in time for our first day of operations on June 2nd.
The office in Radium is open for business, just don’t mind the boxes! We have our merch up on the shelves, brochures on the counter and 3 new staff that will greet you with a smile (and maybe a song request as long as it’s circa 1960-1980). Our office staff are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the 3 rivers we run our trips on, as well as book you in once you decide which of the 3 you’ll do… first! If you book before May 31st you’ll receive 15% off the purchase price. This covers any booking throughout the summer as long as it’s made before the end of May!
